agriculture ministry’s proposal to planning commission to lift ban on
beef export, Vishwa Hindu Parishad(VHP) today meet shri Arun Jaitely,
leader of opposition in Rajya sabha and submitted a memorandum to this
effect. The delegation lead by shri Rashtra Prakash, kshetriya Gau
Raksha Pramukh (Regional Head of Cow protection wing of VHP) termed
the proposal shameless, mindless, audacious & sad, VHP briefed the
leader that the proposal is a hostility perpetrated against the
Dharmic, spiritual, holistic, altruistic and syncretic worldview of
the country.
After meeting the leader of opposition shri Vinod Bansal, the media
chief of VHP Delhi briefed media that we have given a memorandum to
shri Jaitely who has listen to us thoroughly and assured us that we
will mot allow any such hasty move by the government & raise our voice
in the parliament.

STATE POLICY under ARTICLE 48 of the constitution VHP said that it is
the duty of the state to “…take steps for preserving and improving the
breeds, and prohibiting the slaughter, of cows and calves and other
milch and draught cattle.” VHP also referred article 48A & 51A of the
constitution alongwith supreme court decision dated 26.10.2005 in

move to export beef in next five year plan.
It is to note that the GOI Working Group on Animal Husbandry &
Dairying for 12th Five Year Plan (2012-17) has submitted a report to
the Planning Commission, Government of India. The Report, audaciously
asking for permission, reads: “There is an existing Ban on beef
exports; therefore it is necessary to revise the EXIM policy to allow
beef export…” vide Paragraph 12.3.1 under Chapter 12 - Meat and
Abattoirs.
