Julia Regul Singh is the author of Leap of Faith, a novel about an interracial marriage between a German woman and an Indian man, closely resembling the story of her own marriage. Julia’s first encounter with India was as a tourist 15 years ago, where she first met her future in-laws as well as a typically large, extended Punjabi family. She had travelled extensively as a teenager with her parents, as well as in college, on her own. This was her first time in India and was struck by the cultural differences, “I was fascinated how different India was to my own experience growing up in Germany.”
Speaking about the ancient tradition of storytelling in India, Julia remarks, “ Germans have long been fascinated with Indian mythology, spiritualism, philosophies and religions. Since the 19th Century, German writers like Herman Hesse, Thomas Mann, Bertolt Brecht and Feuchtwanger – just to name a few - have found inspiration in India’s stories.” Like many authors, her cultural and social experiences have formed the basis of her writing, “bringing it back to the Indian wedding that I described in my novel “Leap of Faith,” each of these traditions harbor great stories for me to write about. For example, the insane amounts of money spent on Indian weddings astonished  her, she appropriated many of those bonding experiences for the writing of her novel.
This has not been her first foray into writing however, she had earlier written a children’s book, titled Boris the Bench, which is about a bench in a park, which could be anywhere in the world. She believes writing for children is very important and an early interest in reading is what makes children turn towards reading as a lifelong habit. It was after her first book was published that she was introduced to her future editor from Rupa, Kausalya.
She talks about being a foreign writer in India, “When I share my experiences as a German living in India with people, the response is great and people always encourage me to share my thoughts in columns or even in a book format. I started collecting my own experiences and stories, I heard from friends and people around me and ideas for new stories emerged. Often I took these stories a little further, asking myself “What if I was in these situations? What if I ended up living in a village in India? What if I took the rickshaw to work every morning? ” without really losing my ‘foreign eye’ on the story.” She is currently working on a children’s novel in rhyme, titled My cousin Max, inspired by the interaction between her children and nephews/nieces. The story tells is about a small boy who eagerly waits to meet his ‘foreign’ cousin. She is also working on a collection of short stories and would like to translate Leap of Faith into German.

Lalit Modi visa row.  Aggressive  opposition attacks Sushma Swaraj
How the national channels received the private data of the Minister there are many murmur in the corridors of media and tale of  the insider still in perception mode or Is BCCI rivalry which has nefarious design to  fractures national mandate OR Is there is more between the line. Cricketing scam which exists between the carpet and the low key action with person at high places makes the nationa fiscal gross irregularity  or alleged money laundering case a laughing stock.
Congress today demanded immediate sacking of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj over the Lalit Modi travel document issue. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, party
Congress today demanded immediate sacking of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj over the Lalit Modi travel document issue. Briefing reporters in New Delhi, party spkesperson Ajoy Kumar said it is strange that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not aware of Mrs Swaraj helping Lalit Modi. Saying that NDA government is protecting suit-boot people, Mr Kumar said the Prime Minister should immediately sack the External Affairs Minister.
The Opposition has sharpened attack against External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for helping Lalit Modi acquire travel documents. Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi yesterday demanded that External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj be sacked from the Union Cabinet in the wake of revelations related to former IPL Chief Lalit Modi.
Talking to reporters in Chhattisgarh, he said External Affairs Minister is just a member of the cabinet and she should be dropped from the ministry instead of waiting for her resignation. Rahul Gandhi said, the Prime Minister Narendra Modi is yet to make his stand clear on black money.
Demanding resignation of Mrs Swaraj, Aam Aadmi Party leader Kumar Vishwas said, a decision to help Lalit Modi could not have been taken without the knowledge of the Prime Minister’s Office. CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury said charges raised against Mrs Swaraj are serious and asked why Prime Minister who talks about accountability and corruption free governance is silent on the issue.
BJP ally Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said, Sushma Swaraj is being targeted to weaken the Modi government and his party has complete faith in her.
Reacting sharply to the allegations, Union Minister and BJP leader Prakash Javadekar targeted the Congress for what it called playing cheap politics on the issue.
Mr Javadekar said, the Congress has no issue and making mountain out of a mole. He alleged that there is a total bankruptcy of ideas in the Congress. He said, when Lalit Modi left the country why Congress which was in power at that time did not act.
Mr Javadekar also ruled out the resignation of the External Affairs Minister saying that she has already explained her position and BJP president endorsed her clarification.
Terming the Lalit Modi row as the biggest conspiracy to weaken the Narendra Modi Government Shiv Sena has backed External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and said that the party has full faith in her. In today’s editorial of Party mouthpiece Saamna Shiv Sena slammed the opposition parties, especially Congress , for vitiating the atmosphere over the issue of helping Lalit Modi in aquiring travel documents.
The party has given a clean cheat to the External affairs minister saying that her 35-40 year old career in politics is totally clean and it is the biggest conspiracy fabricated by some of the leaders in the opposition to ruin her career in politics. The party has also said that in future these same people may also create a conspiracy against the Prime Minister and it should be probed.
Shiv Sena has alleged that Congress had helped Warren Anderson the main accused in the Bhopal Gas Tragedy and Ottavio Quattrocchi the main accused of Bofors scam to flee the country.
Therefore they have no right to raise questions about the issue as nothing wrong has happened in Lalit Modi row. Shiv Sena has also appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to intervene in the matter and probe the biggest political conspiracy to destabilise the government.

AAP supports FTII students protest against nominated chairman, Educational Institutions are beyond narrow ideologies, should be kept that way
AAP today extended it';s support to FTII students protesting against their nominated Chairman, BJP supporter Gajendra Chauhan on grounds of sheer ineptitude and lack of relevant experience and skill sets.Chatra-Yuva Sangharsh Samiti(CYSS)-AAP';s student and youth wing has openly come out in support of agitating FTII students and will participate in protests.
The Information and Broadcasting ministry,Govt of India had recently nominated Mr Chauhan despite being no dearth of luminary film makers of international repute in the industry.Any autonomous professional educational institution needs meritocracy in it';s faculty and administration to ensure standards of global quality and must be essentially bereft of petty politics and narrow minded worldviews.
The FTII Chairperson';s position was formerly held by legends like Girish Karnad,Shyam Benegal and Ananthamurthy, naturally giving rise to expectations. Moreover, individuals like Anagha Ghaisaas,Rahul Solapurkar have been nominated to the institute';s apex governing body. These individuals  have openly endorsed ‘;Sangh Ideology'; and their latest statements run contrary to  freedom of expression and it';s related freedom of unhindered and unconstrained  creativity which is essential for an institute like FTII.
Since the Modi Govt';s ascent to power,RSS affiliated organizations and individuals have begun pursuing their agenda through tacit support from the Govt.AAP will not tolerate the interference of forces emanating from narrow ideologies in the country';s education system.
NAPM denounces the Land Acquisition Bill 2015 as anti-farmer-labourer and anti – democratic
Joint Committee of Parliamentarians on Land Bill hears NAPM delegation
New Delhi : On June 15, National Alliance of people’s movements (NAPM) delegation led by Medha Patkar and comprising of comprising  Advocate  Sanjay Parikh, Sowmya Datta, Vimalbhai, Madhuresh kumar, Kailash Meena, Hasraj Ghevra, Shabnam Shaikh deposed before the 20 member Joint Committee on the Right to Fair Compensation and Transparency in Land Acquisition, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (Second Amendment) Bill, 2015.
The delegation presented the overall perspective on development, Land and other resources as well as acquisition, displacement and rehabilitation, along with analyzing each section in the amendment Bill. Medha Patkar beginning the presentation, declared NAPM’s rejection of the bill since it’s regressively taking land acquisition enactment backward towards the British Days, Act of 1894, rejecting the role and space granted to the farmers for the first time in the Indian history of land acquisition.
Clause by clause presentation was also made before the committee, explaining the detailed written submission.
The exemption granted to most of the projects in the name of development, is unacceptable since after years long people’s struggles, social impact assessment and consent process was brought in effectively to provide due participation and rights to the farmers to opine on any development plan. Exempting almost all projects would exclude Gram sabhas and Basti Sabhs who have been Constitutionally mandated a role in development planning. Infact, the consent clause should also be extended to the Government projects too. Infact, it was demanded that rather than limiting the scope of the SIA, it should be expanded to include the irrigation projects, big dams and so on, since they cause large scale displacement and social costs are huge, as has been witnessed in the case of Sardar sarovar dam.
The deletion of clause limiting multiple crop lands diversification, with no sensitivity to its impact on food security, amending the clause recommending return of the unused land to the owners after 5 years are illegal, these clauses could have been used to fulfill the agenda of land reforms directly or indirectly.
The constitutional framework of values, principles, fundamental rights and three tier panchayat raj is to be respected and no changes to this can be tolerated by the people. Hence gram sabhas (rural) and basti / ward sabhas (urban) are bound to be the basic units of planning as is recognized in the Article 243 of the  constitution as well.
Adv. Sanjay Parikh presented the case for food security demanding a white paper on the agriculture land diversion over last few decades. At least 150 lakh hectares of agricultural land diverted to non-agricultural purposes within 10 years. Soumya Datta raised a serious question about the land for projects like DMIC and other industrial corridors that have target as large scale of land like 39000 hectares each. Vimal bhai, Kailash bhai and Hansraj Bhai narrated in brief the scenario created with massive land acquisition that is to follow.
Ms. Medha Patkar with others concluded that the committee or subgroup of the MP’s may visit the areas where serious conflict or struggle over years is going on, that will enrich the proceedings of the Committee. This would give them the firsthand knowledge about how the projects getting delayed.
Committee gave a patient hearing and NAPM extends its gratitude to them and hopes that they would take its presentations earnestly and include them in its recommendations.

Surf Snowdonia announces launch date
World-first surf lagoon to open on Saturday 1 August 2015

Mumbai, 16th June, 2015 – Surf Snowdonia, the world’s first ever publicly accessible Wavegardenurfing lagoon has announced it will open its doors to the public on Saturday 1st August, 2015. The one-of-a-kind inland surf facility is being constructed at the village of Dolgarrog, in the Conwy Valley, North Wales.
The announcement of the summer 2015 launch follows an ambitious 13-month construction schedule which saw the first spade go in to the ground in June 2014. Construction will be complete in the next few weeks, with a testing period to follow in July ahead of the public launch.
The globally anticipated inland surf facility will use revolutionary technology to deliver the longest man-made surfable waves on the planet. The consistent and perfectly formed barrelling waves will be variously 2m, 1.2m and 70cm high, and will peel for up to 150 metres. The waves will be generated – at the push of a button – at a rate of one every minute. Up to 52 surfers will be able to use the 300m lagoon simultaneously.
Andy Ainscough, operations director of Conwy Adventure Leisure, the company who are building Surf Snowdonia, said: “This is a huge day for all of us who have worked so hard on the construction scheme over the last thirteen months. We’re absolutely delighted that we’ve managed to stay on schedule for our summer launch.
“This is a world-first engineering project which has required the close collaboration of multi agencies and contractors. It’s testament to the skill and dedication of all our partners and consultants that we’ve managed to deliver such a successful project.”
Surf Snowdonia has been built on the site of a former aluminium factory which went into liquidation in 2007. It was acquired by Ainscough Strategic Land in 2012, with a view to develop it for leisure use. The vision to develop it as the world’s first Wavegarden surf facility started to take shape in October 2012, when the company Conwy Adventure Leisure Limited was formed.
Since then, the site has undergone a major transformation. Over 100 years’ of heavy industrial waste has been removed, and 400 tonnes of steel, cast iron and copper have been recycled. Around 25,000 cubic metres of hardcore has also been recycled, with 85% of the stone used in the new construction sourced from the original site. The surf facility will be filled with rainwater taken from neighbouring mountain reservoirs.
Surf Snowdonia will also feature retail, restaurant and café ¡reas as well as a 50 metre glass-fronted viewing gallery. Entrance to the ‘dry’ facilities in the park will be free.
The £12 million facility will create over 60 direct jobs, additionally sustaining around 100 jobs in the supply chain. It is conservatively expecting in excess of 75,000 visitors per year.
About Surf Snowdonia:
Surf Snowdonia is a genuinely revolutionary outdoor adventure destination which will open in July 2015 in the Conwy Valley in North Wales.

Hillary: Naresh, thank you for joining the campaign

Hillary for America
Naresh, thank you for joining the campaign.
Since we kicked off, I’ve been on the road in Iowa and New Hampshire, having honest conversations with people about their hopes for the future of our country.
I met a young woman in Marshalltown, Iowa who’s learning to run her father’s farm. I talked to students at the New Hampshire Technical Institute who are creating tomorrow’s technology. I’ve talked with mothers and fathers, nurses and teachers — people who are looking for solutions to the challenges they face every day.
In each of these conversations, I’m reminded why I am running for president: Everyday Americans need a champion, and I want to be that champion.
This campaign won’t be easy. I’ll work hard to earn every vote.
And I’m proud to have you by my side along the way. Help strengthen this campaign by chipping in whatever you can right now:
Thank you for being a part of this,
Hillary
